On May 7, the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival treated South Kona residents to a small and intimate concert featuring soprano Rachel Schutz and pianist Jonathan Korth.
The concert took place at one of the homes in the Kiilae Farms subdivision near Hounaunau for a delighted crowd of about 50 people.
Hailed for her “diamantine high notes… and giddy delirious coloratura” (Richard Dyer, Boston Globe), Welsh-born soprano, Rachel Schutz is increasingly in demand throughout the US and Europe for a wide range of repertoire, from Bach to Bernstein and Babbitt.
Pianist Jonathan Korth enjoys a multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, collaborator, and teacher, having performed recitals across the United States, Canada, and France to critical acclaim. He is on the piano faculty at the UHM Music Department.
